Flea Season

AIN’T NO FLEAS ON ME…

To paraphrase the once popular flea treatment commercial jingle. We here at SplashDog hate fleas. Who doesn’t. They are annoying at the very least. Some dogs have horrible allergies to them. And as most people with furry companions know, once they get in or on, it can be maddening to get rid of them.

As a business, we do not have a policy stating that dogs must be treated for fleas. Many of our old clients and those that may have immunity challenges may not be able to be treated safely. We believe that it is the pet parents choice about whether or not their dog (or other companion animals) are treated to prevent fleas.

That being said, we do not want fleas at SplashDog. Fleas in our facility can cause many dogs and their people a lot of discomfort. Not every single flea can be protected against. What we ask of our clients is that you not bring your dog in to SplashDog if you know there are fleas on him/her, whether treated or not. If you see a flea and have an appointment, please be vigilant in investigating whether it was a stray flea or if your dog actually has an issue that needs to be addressed first. We will never charge you for a late cancelation if you need to cancel due to a flea issue.

If you do treat your dog for fleas and use a spot treatment, please do not apply it before coming in to the pool. It is best to wait for 48 hours before coming in after a spot treatment. We don’t want it in the pool and even if it is waterproof, it needs to be fully absorbed into your dogs system to be completely effective.

Thank you very much for helping us keep SplashDog flea free, and your dog’s happy place.
